An estate sale sparked the idea for our Egyptian Room. Beautiful Egyptian-inspired pieces from a local collector have found a new home at The Noctua Nook, where our love of mythology gives them a setting for bookstore visitors to enjoy.

Inspired by the coffins of Tutankhamun, this striking piece features a gold finish, colorful decoration, and the crossed crook and flail that have been associated with ancient Egyptian kingship.

Settee and Vase
A vibrantly decorated settee featuring a gold finish, Egyptian-inspired scenes, and feline heads and paw feet. A richly colored decorative vase completes the display.
Rosetta Stone Replica
A replica of the famed Rosetta Stone, whose inscription in three scripts provided the key that unlocked ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
Each section records the same decree.
The top part features pictorial type symbols, which include birds, eyes, and sacred iconography, used for official decrees.
The middle part features Demotic, a flowing, cursive-like script, standard Egyptian handwriting.
The bottom part features Greek lettering arranged in clean, rigid line blocks, the language of the ruling government.
